Professional Experience
Mark Coats serves as the Sector Director responsible for overseeing Government Services within CBRE’s Government & Defense Sector. In this role, he is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operational performance, and client delivery of integrated facilities management and engineering solutions. With more than 30 years of experience across military service, federal contracting, and executive operations, Mark brings deep expertise in supporting complex Department of Defense and federal healthcare missions.
Mark joined J&J Worldwide Services in 2022 and has held multiple senior leadership roles within the Engineering Solutions Business Unit, including Executive Vice President of Operations, Vice President, and Executive Director for the European Region. In these roles, he led global construction, maintenance, and engineering programs, driving operational excellence, safety, and mission assurance across diverse geographies.
Before joining J&J, Mark held executive positions at tribally-owned and Native Hawaiian Organization contractors, where he managed large-scale government infrastructure programs. His previous roles included Chief Operating Officer, General Manager, and Director of Project Controls at Tepa, as well as Operations and Maintenance Director at Dawson, where he focused on optimizing federal O&M delivery across defense and civilian portfolios.
A retired U.S. Army Engineer Officer, Mark served for 22 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he held command and staff positions focused on strategic planning, program execution, and infrastructure development in support of national security objectives.
He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
